Tie Dye Angelfish

On a stormy spring afternoon, a renegade Double Dark Black angelfish male introduced himself to a lone Koi angelfish female and the two became partners for life, unlikely soul mates whose relationship produces exceptionally hearty spawns consisting of an equal number of Black angels, Gold Blushing Angels, and the randomly marked mongrels pictured below; strongly suggestive of the Koi which is their mother, but expressing no consistent arrangement of colors that I generally associate with the Koi, or Gold Blushing Marble. They are Koi-like, with Koi genes from their mother, but because of their non-standard, non-conforming coloration, I must call them what they are, mongrels. A members' poll at The Freshwater Aquarium forum suggested names for these cute little misfits, and Tie Dye described them perfectly. I am impressed with the rapid growth rate and vigor in all of the color variations from these spawns; Blacks, Gold Blushers, and Tie Dyes. The concept of heterosis or "hybrid vigor" comes to mind. Most of them begin with random black markings on a white background; orange patches, including orange caps, begin appearing when they are a few weeks old.

All prices subject to availability. Images are approximations of actual coin size. I use real coins when selecting your fish. If a fish is larger than one coin, but not quite as large as the next sized coin, the smaller coin price will be charged. For example: A fish larger than a quarter but not yet half dollar size will be billed at the quarter size price.

The statistical odds that a group of 6 fish will contain at least one male and one female for possible breeding are 96.88%. 10 fish will raise the odds to 99.80%  "6 packs" represent a very good deal if breeding is your goal.
